Here’s a way to contribute to the BMW CCA Foundation without writing a check!

Need to rent a car for a business trip, vacation, or because yours is in the shop?  You can save money while helping the Foundation by renting through any one of these agencies:

Avis

At select locations you can get a vehicle equipped with Avis Connect, a device that is powered via the cigarette lighter plug. It allows you to connect to the Internet from your car. It’s compatible with all Wi-Fi devices (no cards are needed) and costs $10.95 per day. The revamped Where2 GPS service ($11.95 per day or $49.75 per week) not only offers audible directions and real-time traffic updates from a Garmin nüvi 780 navigation device, it can also be paired with Bluetooth-capable phones for hands-free calls. Plus, you get real-time traffic alerts, as well as news, stocks, and weather from MSN Direct. Avis will be rolling out airport-delay information in the near future. Some cars are equipped with the E-ZPass toll-collection system ($1.50 per day).  No BMW’s for rent, but Avis is a green car rental company offering Nissan Altima Hybrid, Toyota Prius Hybrid and for those who just want to be quasi-cool - Corvette Convertibles. This program offers the Foundation points towards free rental days, and saves you serious money on rentals.

Budget

As its name implies, Budget’s rental costs are moderate. Budget offers cars with Last-generation Where2 GPS system with audible directions and real-time traffic updates, which can be paired with Bluetooth-capable phones ($11.95 daily), but doesn’t offer MSN Direct goodies like Avis does. Some vehicles at some locations have iPod docking stations. Others offer satellite radio, and some cars come equipped with a built-in E-ZPass, for a $1.50 daily charge. Nothing really sexy for rent, but Ford Expedition, Ford Mustang Coupe, Lincoln Towncar and Toyota Highlanders are usually available if you’re traveling with a crowd.  This program donates $2 per rental day to the Foundation to b e used for future car rentals.
