A fellowship that supports the work of the BMW CCA Foundation – we greatly appreciate all of the people like you whose special generosity makes our work possible. Our programs include:
- Library and Historical Archive
Our Library and Historical Archive of BMW-related literature, technical documents, and sporting paraphernalia continues to grow and is fast becoming the largest such collection in North America. A major goal for the year ahead is to have a large portion of the archival material digitized and displayed on our website for public view and educational research. Both BMW of North America and BMW Classic now acknowledge the value of this effort. They continue to look for ways to assist and collaborate with us in this cause before important technical and sporting records- some dating back to the very start of BMW’s activities in this country- are lost forever.
- Preservation and Restoration Group
Our Preservation and Restoration Group has the stated goal of preserving BMW’s vehicle heritage as well as encouraging its active public use. It has been very active over the last few years supporting some of the most important vintage and historic clubs and enthusiast events in this country. The BMW CCA Foundation is now participating in a wide variety of truly unique and special events nationally each year, including enthusiast milestones such the Amelia Island Concours D’elegance, the Monterey Historics, the annual Vintage at the Vineyard’s Bavarian Celebration,
The Lime Rock Fall Vintage Festival, the annual BMW CCA Oktoberfest, and internationally attended BMW Vintage and Old Timer Rallies across the entire United States.
- Tire Rack Street Survival Program
Perhaps our most compelling mission, the Tire Rack Street Survival program allows us to focus our national legion of trained enthusiasts on the members of our community who need it the most – our newly minted teen drivers. Driver’s education in this country has fallen woefully by the wayside. Students typically receive more instruction on parallel parking than any sort of meaningful situational awareness or accident avoidance training. The facts are as sad as they are horrific. Traffic accidents are the number one cause of death for American teens in this country. Young drivers (16-20) are involved in over 5000 fatal crashes per year.
We are addressing this issue head on with carefully scripted, hands-on driver training courses in open parking lots from one end of this country to the other. We have already trained thousands, and we will complete an extraordinary eighty Tire Rack Street Survival schools for 2009, with our eye on one hundred for 2010. And we are not alone. We are constantly welcoming new BMW CCA Chapters to the fold, and now the SCCA and several other national marque clubs are pledging their support to hold their own Tire Rack Street Survival events to help us tackle the most compelling public safety issue of our time.
Your donation gains you access to this select fellowship, and that means you’re first on the list for special announcements, sponsorship opportunities and our quarterly newsletter.
